The MCom in Actuarial Studies is suitable for graduates who hold a bachelor degree in actuarial studies or equivalent professional qualifications. The program is structured to allow students to complete Part 2 of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia professional qualifications as part of the degree. Students are also able to complete further specialised study in actuarial and related areas including statistics, finance and economics.

Financial advising to governments and a wide range of commercial organisations such as life, general (non-life), health insurance companies, superannuation funds, banks, funds managers, stockbrokers and other finance and investment sector companies.

Requirements

Entry Requirements:

Bachelor degree in actuarial studies from a recognised university with a GPA of at least 2.70 out of 4.00 or equivalent professional actuarial qualifications. The MCom in Actuarial Studies does not require prior work experience for admission.

Accreditation

Completion of ACST831 and ACST832 as part of the MCom exempts students from Part 2 of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia professional qualification requirements.

Advanced Standing

Students who have passed ACST831 and ACST832 (or equivalent units at another Australian university) prior to enrolment in the MCom in Actuarial Studies will be granted advanced standing of eight credit points (two units), provided ACST831 and ACST832 (or their equivalent) have not been counted as credit toward an undergraduate degree.
